Writer / Director of ACCTA nominated 'The Night Caller'
Originally from Perth, Australia, Thomas now lives and works in the UK as a director, editor, and producer. His latest documentary feature, The Missing Millionairess, aired on ITV in 2023, and he has just released Twisted Twins, also for ITV.
Currently, Thomas is completing a short documentary for Channel 4 News, is in production on a new feature documentary called Father Figures: A Love Story, and is developing The Box of Tapes, his first fiction feature.
In between documentaries, Thomas directed Demon, a short fiction comedy/thriller about a man’s neglected inner child manifesting to stop him from ruining his life. Demon was a finalist at The Rhode Island International Film Festival in 2023.
In 2020, Thomas directed, edited, and wrote the AACTA-nominated true crime series The Night Caller, a global hit that aired on Sundance Now and Sky. His 2022 feature documentary The Cancer Conflict received rave reviews and was shortlisted for Best Science Documentary at the Grierson Awards 2023.
Thomas’s 2019 feature documentary The Spy Who Fell to Earth launched on Netflix, becoming a cult favorite in the Middle East. In 2018, he worked as associate producer and editor on Fred and Breaking Habits, both released on Netflix, and directed The Outsider, which received four stars from Total Film and had a Bertha Dochouse cinema release.
An Emmy-winning editor for The Amazing Race Australia (2012), Thomas has also edited projects for National Geographic, Discovery Channel, Channel 4, and the BBC. He was the editor of Salon Pictures’ The Guv’nor and even tried his hand at acting, appearing on Neighbours in 2002.
